Pre-College GED – Before College
Students can earn a High School Equivalency Diploma at TOCC in two ways. Choose the one that best fits your learning style, and let us help you start on the path to success.
Pre-College GED Classes
To help prepare students for the GED exam, students who are 16 and older and not currently enrolled in high school may take GED preparation courses in the four subject areas that will be on the exam: math, science, social studies, and reasoning.
Steps To Apply for TOCC’s Pre-College GED Program
- Apply online at tocc.edu and choose the HSE- GED program option as your program of interest.
- Set up your myged.com account and then email your username and password information to btaylor@tocc.edu. At that time, the instructor will review your account and connect with you by phone or email to learn more about you and answer any questions you have.
- Next, study, schedule, and pass the AZ Civics Test with a score of 60 or higher. This exam must be taken in-person at an authorized GED/Pearson Vue testing center. It can be scheduled in your myged.com account. There is a $9 fee for this test. All applicants are expected to study and be ready to take the exam within the first 30 days of enrollment.
- Take GEDready Practice tests in each of the 4 subject areas. Email btaylor@tocc.edu to request GED practice tests for each subject.
- Answer Student Interview Questions and upload Personal Statement: Student Interview Questions and Personal Statement then contact btaylor@tocc.edu to let us know you’ve completed steps 1-5. This is a requirement of all GED applicants.
After you’ve completed Step 1-5, our program will review your application, test scores, and personal statement and contact you directly for the next steps in the Pre-College GED Program.
GED FAST TRACK
If you are confident you have the academic skills to complete your GED without enrolling in a GED program, we can help you!
You may contact our office and provide your name, email address, and contact number. The Pre-College GED program administrator will contact you. You must have a MyGED account set up for the FAST TRACK option.

The Importance of Math for the GED, College, and the Workplace
The math portion of the GED test is usually the most difficult to pass.T here are four areas: basic math, geometry, basic algebra, and graphs amd functions. Mastery of basic math skills are necessary for success before starting the Pre College-GED Program.
Math Readiness Skills to Master Before Starting Pre-College GED Program
1. Complete 60 multiplication problems correctly in three minutes. Use the link below to practice.

Importance of Math in College
Mastering mathematics is helpful in almost any career. Learning math helps workers analyze and solve problems. Math teaches other important practices, including how to approach tasks methodically, pay attention to detail, and think abstractly. A mathematical background gives you the chance to move in all kinds of directions.
College Credit Pathway (CCP) Program
You must be at least 16 years old or older and not currently enrolled in high school. You can earn your High School Equivalency Diploma by completing 25 specific college credits (courses must be at the 100-course level or above) with a C grade or above and passing the Arizona Civics Test.
