Pre-College GED – Before College

Students can earn a High School Equivalency Diploma at TOCC in two ways. Choose the one that best fits your learning style, and let us help you start on the path to success.

Pre-College GED Classes

To help prepare students for the GED exam, students who are 16 and older and not currently enrolled in high school may take GED preparation courses in the four subject areas that will be on the exam: math, science, social studies, and reasoning.

 

Pre-College GED Program – Entry Steps

  1. Submit the GED Intake Form. After submitting, proceed to Step 2. A GED team representative will follow up within 1–2 business days.
  2. Create a GED.com account and complete all four GED Ready practice tests.
  3. Study for and pass the Arizona Civics Test with a score of 70 or higher within 30 days of submitting the intake form.
    Cost: $9
    Available in-person at a testing center or via online proctored exam.

After completing steps 1-3, our program will review the information submitted and you’ll be invited to an upcoming program orientation to get started with your student cohort.

    GED FAST TRACK

    If you are confident you have the academic skills to complete your GED without enrolling in a GED program, we can help you!

    You may contact our office and provide your name, email address, and contact number. The Pre-College GED program administrator will contact you. You must have a MyGED account set up for the FAST TRACK option.

    The Importance of Math for the GED, College, and the Workplace

    The math portion of the GED test is usually the most difficult to pass.T here are four areas: basic math, geometry, basic algebra, and graphs and functions. Mastery of basic math skills are necessary for success before starting the Pre College-GED Program.

    Math Readiness Skills to Master Before Starting Pre-College GED Program

    1. Complete 60 multiplication problems correctly in three minutes. Use the link below to practice.

    Importance of Math in College

    Mastering mathematics is helpful in almost any career. Learning math helps workers analyze and solve problems. Math teaches other important practices, including how to approach tasks methodically, pay attention to detail, and think abstractly. A mathematical background gives you the chance to move in all kinds of directions.

    College Credit Pathway (CCP) Program

    You must be at least 16 years old or older and not currently enrolled in high school. You can earn your High School Equivalency Diploma by completing 25 specific college credits (courses must be at the 100-course level or above) with a C grade or above and passing the Arizona Civics Test.
